Preaching

The Bible is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” and the source for
growth in our Christian faith: “for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith.”
(Romans 1:16-17 ESV)

We are to “preach the word,” being faithful when it is popular and when it is unpopular; “reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” (2 Timothy 4:2 ESV)

We are to “refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word” (2 Corinthians 4:2 ESV) because the Spirit of God works through the Word of God, not our personal opinions about what we might think the Bible says.

The preaching and teaching of the Word is central to the ministry of Five Mile Baptist Church. Consistent, loving instruction in God’s Word, combined with a desire to understand and follow it, changes people, families, and churches—and it has the potential to change the world.
